2017 – 2018 Chapter Leadership Team

joell_2Joell Dickerson is the Home Ownership Center Manager at Neighborhood Housing Service of Kansas City (NHS) where she implements and oversees the service-delivery system and internal operations of the housing, lending, and minor home repair programs. She establishes overall objectives and comprehensive plans for the center to adhere to NHS’s goals of revitalizing and maintaining vibrant diverse communities.

Joell graduated from Rockhurst University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication. In keeping with the mission of the Jesuits – ethics, justice and service to others, she has been an active participant in promoting economic sufficiency in the community. She is also passionate about instilling good personal financial skills in today’s youth. Joell is part of an outreach committee that visits inner city schools to talk to youth about sound money management skills.


jureau_bowmanJureau Bowman is a Branch Manager at Commerce Bank, where she has worked for 7 years. In addition to her role as Branch Manager, she is also an Ambassador and Regional Edge Champion for Commerce. She is one of the face-front contacts for new hires, helping them to feel welcomed and appreciated. Prior to joining Commerce, Jureau worked for 14 years at Harrah’s Casino, Kansas City, MO as a Pit Manager. In addition to sitting on the Board at UFSC-GKC, Jureau also dedicates time as a Chairperson for Planning and Development for Southtown Council, who are committed to community service events. She is a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, where she serves on the Trustee Board and is a native of Clarksdale, MS. Jureau earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from Avila University, Kansas City, MO.

 

 


brittany_2Brittany Ray is a Community Development Loan Specialist at Capitol Federal Savings Bank, where she has worked for 4 years. Prior to joining Capitol Federal, Brittany worked in the banking industry for 14 years in the Kansas City area. Brittany, a native Kansan, earned an Associate’s Degree in Business from Baker University, Baldwin City, KS.

 

 

 


tracy_2Tracy Rainge has 12 years of experience in the financial services industry; she is a Talent Acquisition Recruiter for U.S. Bank working with various leaders within Payment Services to acquire excellent talent for the organization and serves as a Talent Partner to the HR Business Partners.  Prior to joining U.S. Bank she worked as an Operations Manager for DST Systems.

Tracy graduated from MidAmerica Nazarene University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Management and Human Relations. She is a board member of the U.S. Bank Development Network.

 


ola_truloveOla Truelove, a native Kansas Citian, is a Vice President at Central Bank of the Midwest. Ms. Truelove’s 40-year career in the financial services industry includes management positions in the areas of Transit/Check Operations, Lockbox and Treasury Management Sales. In addition to her 19-year tenure on the board of directors of UFSC-GKC, Ola is the Urban Financial Services Coalition’s National Treasurer and Past President of the Kansas City Association for Financial Professionals. During her 19-year career at U.S. Bank, Ola was a member of the “Million Dollar Club” and recipient the bank’s Five Star Award for her community support of UFSC. She has also been recognized by INROADS at the national level as Business Supervisor of the Year and UFSC at the national level as Outstanding Member of the Year.


jamilah_2Jamilah Jones is a Business Development Officer at the Economic Development Corporation of Kansas City (EDCKC) where she has worked for 7 years in various positions. Her primary focus is business retention, attraction and expansion within the East and Plaza areas with a specialized industry sector of healthcare. Jamilah serves as a Liaison between City departments, businesses and the development community. She provides financial resources and informational assistance, workforce resources and customized research services to ensure the City’s strategic economic development and quality job choice for our residents. She works closely with commercial developers, business owners, real estate brokers and site selectors to navigate the legislative process related to development and incentives. Jamilah is a Kansas City native and earned an Associate’s of Arts Degree from Metropolitan Community College of Kansas City, MO.


tn_amber_hAmber Hamilton is an Administrative Assistant to a Regional Group Market Manager at Commerce Bank, where she has worked for 7 years.  She is a native of Kansas City and earned an Associate’s of Applied Sciences Degree – Paralegal Practices at Metropolitan Community College of Kansas City, MO. Amber was a 2016 UFSC-GKC scholarship recipient.

 

 


tn_ladonna_aLaDonna Ali has been in the mortgage banking industry since 1989. Her experience includes loan origination for residential purchases and refinances, and supporting and promoting affordable lending programs for Greater Kansas City and assisting low to moderate income borrowers through homebuyer education all the way to homeownership.

 

 


tn_melanie_bMelanie Boykin is a native of Kansas City and is a Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery Coordinator at Commerce Bank.  She is certified by DRI International as a Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP).  Melanie has over 27 years of banking experience in the areas of Item Processing and Business Continuity Management. She is a member of Commerce Bank’s Inclusion & Diversity Council and she also serves as co-chair for the bank’s women’s resource group.

 

 


donna_grinderDonna Grider, Treasurer Donna is a native of Kansas City, MO and has been a Vice President at U.S. Bank for 25 years in the areas of Treasury Management and Deposit & Payments Relationship Management.  Donna received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Central Missouri, Warrensburg, MO.

 

 


tn_anissa_bAnissa Brown is the Branch Manager and Assistant Vice President for U.S. Merriam Branch in Merriam, Kansas.  She joined U.S. Bank in 2013 and manages small business development, employee engagement, branch growth and risk management. Prior to joining U.S. Bank, Anissa worked at First National Bank of Kansas, Regions Financial Corporation and UMB.

Anissa’s key strengths are her strong interpersonal skills and leadership ability.  She prides herself in creating leaders within her branch who perform well and have bright futures.  Anissa strives to have balanced results in sales, service and operations and exceed goals.  She has earned 7 quarterly Pinnacle Awards 1 and Annual Pinnacle Award.

Anissa received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Southern University, Baton Rouge, LA and a Master’s Degree from Baker University, Baldwin City, KS.   She is an advocate for community outreach and development and serves on the Board of Directors for Crosslines Community Outreach and 8th Street YMCA.

theodiswatsonTheodis Watson is a native of Kansas City, MO and an Assistant Vice President and Branch Manager for Commerce Bank. Theodis serves as President of the Southtown Council, an organization whose mission is to promote economic development and community growth and is a member of the Black Achievers Society Kansas City.  Theodis received a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications and Public Relations from Missouri State University, Springfield, MO and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.

 

 

 

 


sherida_hSherida Harris’ nearly 15-year career has been devoted to American Century, its merger with J.P. Morgan Retirement Plan Services and the acquisition of the latter organization by Empowerment Retirement/Great-West Financial.  In her roles as Learning & Organizational Development Specialist, Product Education Specialist and Senior Training Specialist, her measurable outcomes were aligned with and supportive of constant industry changes, evolving client needs and the cultural and environmental nuances that often accompany corporate mergers and acquisitions.

In conjunction with her professional dedication to continuous improvement, Sherida is a well-known and internal and external change agent and servant leader.  She led J.P. Morgan’s Black Organization for Leadership Development (BOLD) Business Resource Group as a key component of her development and implementation of the organization’s Diversity & Inclusion Program.  She also rose through the leadership ranks of the Greater Kansas City Chapter of Urban Financial Services Coalition ultimately serving as Vice President of Program Planning, President and Advisor.  These positions resulted in Sherida receiving J.P. Morgan’s Guiding Principle Award and the Award for Leading the Urban Financial Services Coalition’s Most Inspired Chapter.

Sherida earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Missouri at Kansas City, MO with an emphasis in English, Journalism, Creative Writing and Education.

Turner has enjoyed careers in banking, community development and currently serves as President and CEO of Neighborhood Housing Services of Kansas City, Inc., a nonprofit 501(C)(3) that provides a variety of programs to improve access to credit for low-to moderate-income households. Turner and his wife Kimberly live in Kansas City, Missouri.

Debra began her business career as a Financial Examiner for the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City where for 11 years, she examined large and complex state member banks and bank holding companies in the Tenth Federal Reserve District. Debra established and spearheaded the bank’s diversity strategy, a high profile role that for 21 years, enabled her to expand her influence across the organization and significantly impact its talent recruitment and retention and cultural change. Debra retired from the bank in 2011. She is the Urban Financial Services Coalition’s National President and leader, member and supporter of organizations such as Black Achievers of Kansas City, Lee’s Summit Human Relations Commission, National Association of African Americans in Human Resources and National Black MBA Association.  Debra holds an Executive Master of Business Administration Degree from Rockhurst University, Kansas City, MO and a Bachelor of Science Degree from Grambling State University, Grambling, LA. She is also a graduate of the Kauffman Foundation’s FastTrac New Venture Program.


sharonhardySharon Hardy is a life-long Auditor and performs internal control and compliance reviews and consultant engagements for financial institutions in Missouri and Kansas.  She speaks to professional groups on the topics of leadership and teambuilding and is recognized by business leaders for her outstanding leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.  Sharon holds a Master in Business Administration Degree from Avila College, Kansas City, MO, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting and Management from Park College, Parkville, MO and a degree in Audit Management from the Business School of Banking – University of Wisconsin at Madison, WI.  Sharon is also a Certified Fraud Examiner.
