Officers

Joell Dickerson, President

Joell is a Business and Community Development Officer at Mazuma Credit Union where she creates, promotes and monitors business opportunities consistent with Mazuma’s vision, goals and objectives.  She also develops and implements strategies to help meet Mazuma’s mission and strategy.

Joell graduated from Rockhurst University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication. In keeping with the mission of the Jesuits – ethics, justice and service to others, she has been an active participant in promoting economic sufficiency in the community.  She is also passionate about instilling good personal financial skills in today’s youth. Joell is part of an outreach committee that visits inner city schools to talk to youth about sound money management skills.


deborahperkinsvicepresident_1 Deborah Perkins, Vice President of Program Planning

Deborah is a Vice President and Treasury Management Consultant at BMO Harris Bank. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Organizational Leadership and Business Administration from Graceland University, Independence, MO. Deborah spent most of her 10 years in the financial services industry at UMB where she rose through the ranks from Teller to Vice President. She also received numerous awards for outstanding performance while at UMB including the Diversity Champion Award. In addition to her role with UFSC-GKC, Deborah is a member of the National Association of Purchasing Cards Professionals and the American Bankers Association Teach Children to Save Program. For 8 years, Deborah served in the United States Army Reserve as a Team Leader – Military Police Officer Specialist.


ola_trulove Ola Truelove, 1st Vice President of Resource Development & National Treasurer

Ola, a native Kansas Citian, is a Vice President at Central Bank of the Midwest. Ms. Truelove’s 40-year career in the financial services industry includes management positions in the areas of Transit/Check Operations, Lockbox and Treasury Management Sales. In addition to her 18-year tenure on the board of directors of UFSC-GKC, Ola is also Past President of the Kansas City Association for Financial Professionals. During her 19-year career at U.S. Bank, Ola was a member of the “Million Dollar Club” and recipient the bank’s Five Star Award for her community support of UFSC. She has also been recognized by INROADS at the national level as Business Supervisor of the Year and UFSC at the national level as Outstanding Member of the Year.

Nick is an Assistant Vice President of Commercial Lending at Hawthorn Bank.  His 10-year career in the financial services industry has been spent with large and small banking institutions in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area in various management positions.  Nick earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Liberal Arts from the University of Missouri at Kansas City, Kansas City, MO.


jureau_bowman Jureau Bowman, Vice President of Membership

Jureau is an Assistant Branch Manager at Commerce Bank where she has worked for 6 years.  Prior to joining Commerce, Jureau worked for 14 years at Harrah’s Casino, Kansas City, MO as a Pit Manager.  Jureau, a native of Clarksdale, MS, earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from Avila University, Kansas City, MO.

Danielle is a Talent Acquisition Specialist at Commerce Bank where for 10 years, she has identified and hired top diverse talent.  A native Floridian, Danielle began her college track at Florida State University, Tallahassee, FL and finished at Friends University, Kansas City, MO with a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Management & Leadership.   Danielle volunteers for Human Resources events at Rockhurst University, Kansas City, MO and the Urban League of Greater Kansas City.

Debra is the Managing Partner of On-Point Career Strategies (OPCS).   OPCS offers high quality, progressive and personalized career navigation tools that allow individuals, from entry-level professionals to senior executives, to take charge of their career destiny and become their own career managers.  OPCS also offers businesses a cadre of high caliber and right-fit employment candidates to build high-performing teams and secure bench strength to compete and win in the marketplace. Debra began her business career as a Financial Examiner for the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City where for 11 years, she examined large and complex state member banks and bank holding companies in the Tenth Federal Reserve District. Debra established and spearheaded the bank’s diversity strategy, a high profile role that for 21 years, enabled her to expand her influence across the organization and significantly impact its talent recruitment and retention and cultural change. Debra retired from the bank in 2011. She is a leader, member and supporter of organizations such as Black Achievers of Kansas City, Lee’s Summit Human Relations Commission, National Association of African Americans in Human Resources and National Black MBA Association.  Debra holds an Executive Master of Business Administration Degree from Rockhurst University, Kansas City, MO and a Bachelor of Science Degree from Grambling State University, Grambling, LA. She is also a graduate of the Kauffman Foundation’s FastTrac New Venture Program.

Donna is a native of Kansas City, MO and has been a Vice President at U.S. Bank for 25 years in the areas of Treasury Management and Deposit & Payments Relationship Management.  Donna received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Central Missouri, Warrensburg, MO.


phillip_williams Phillip Williams, Secretary

Phillip is a native of Kansas City, MO and Assistant Vice President in the Treasury Management Division of UMB Bank where he onboards and manages large high revenue commercial clients. Phillip has received numerous corporate awards over his 16-year tenure at the bank. Phillip earned an Associate’s Degree from Penn Valley Community College, Kansas City, MO.  In addition to his role with UFSC, Phillip is a member of the Kansas City Association for Financial Professionals.

Melanie is a Business Continuity Plan Analyst at Commerce Bank.  She recently earned a professional certification as an Associate Business Continuity Professional (ABCP). Melanie has an Associate’s Degree from Metropolitan Community College – Maple Woods.


theodiswatson Theodis Watson, Advisory Board Chairman & Immediate Past President

Theodis Watson is a native of Kansas City, MO and an Assistant Vice President and Branch Manager for Commerce Bank. Theodis serves as President of the Southtown Council, an organization whose mission is to promote economic development and community growth and is a member of the Black Achievers Society Kansas City.  Theodis received a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications and Public Relations from Missouri State University, Springfield, MO and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.


sharonhardy Sharon Hardy, Alumni Board Chairman & Member

Sharon is a life-long Auditor and performs internal control and compliance reviews and consultant engagements for financial institutions in Missouri and Kansas.  She speaks to professional groups on the topics of leadership and teambuilding and is recognized by business leaders for her outstanding leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.  Sharon holds a Master in Business Administration Degree from Avila College, Kansas City, MO, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting and Management from Park College, Parkville, MO and a degree in Audit Management from the Business School of Banking – University of Wisconsin at Madison, WI.  Sharon is also a Certified Fraud Examiner.
